BE WHO YOU ARE

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about what it is like to be “coming out of the closet,” and that for some reason this is only associated with coming out of the closet because you are gay…

Gay, as who you are, your identity, how you feel, how you love, and that there is no fucked up principles that can get in the way.

You just want to let the world know who you are, to be accepted, loved and welcomed. This is great! If I were gay, I would’ve come out of the closet a long time ago, but I am not (sorry guys.)

Now, coming out of the closet, shouldn’t just be related to being gay. Coming out of the closet, in my opinion, is liberating yourself from whatever it is that you are chained to.

In my case, I’ve been more than open to letting everyone know about my divorce and the disaster that this has brought to me and my family.

Why do I do it? Simply, because I want people to understand that there is a whole lot of people out there suffering from the same dilemma.

We are built, as humans, to deal with disappointments, with misunderstanding. I am who I am, and no one can tell me how to behave in a free society, and that I have to keep things to myself.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many people had emailed me, or called me to let me know how my recent work have made them feel better about their own situation. To me, this is what it is all about.

Do not hide, because that will make you feel lost. Do not pretend, because this will make you feel like a liar. Do not force yourself to be someone that you are not, because this will make you feel like a failure.

Simply, be who you are, love the way you feel, live life intensively, do not set boundaries, be free and this is only going to bring you one thing: YOU and not a result of what society wants you to be.

I am ME and I don’t give a FUCK what you think of me.
