2012 International Photography Awards Announces Winners of the Competition
Cesar Augusto was awarded in the International Photography Awards Competition. International Photography Awards (IPA) has announced the winners of 2012’s competition.
Cesar Augusto was Awarded: Honorable Mention in Fine Art for the winning entry “Dreamer.”

ABOUT CESAR:
Cesar Augusto was born in 1969 in Havana, Cuba and began making photographs as a child. His father, a professional photographer, brought him to shoots and the darkroom, teaching him every aspect of the process of making a photograph. During his teenager years, Cesar worked as a photographer in several photo studios in Havana. He started as a photographer’s assistant and then worked as a professional photographer. Immediately after high school Cesar began working for the Cuban Navy as a photographer documenting military maneuvers across Cuba. In 1989, he was admitted as a photography student to the highly competitive Instituto Superior de Arte, Cuba’s most prestigious art university. Cesar started making short films and eventually switched his major to Motion Picture Directing. Cesar Augusto graduated in 1994 with offers to direct some of the island’s top talent. Although his work was recognized in his homeland, he was also censored by the totalitarian regime there. Under the guise of post-graduate work, Cesar was allowed to travel to Moscow but defected during a layover in Ireland. He now lives in Chicago with his wife and their four children.
His work has been published in numerous publications and exhibited in many galleries across the US. He is represented in the US by S:B Reps and in Mexico by Esfera Photo.

VIVA CUBA
Viva Cuba!
