This is in response to a question my Facebook friend John Castillo asked me yesterday.
He asked:
Hey Cesar! Could you point me in the proper/correct direction of becoming a professional photographer? What do you recommend/suggest?
My response:
1- Learn the technique without getting too hung up on that. Simple learn the basics and go from there. You can learn simply by experimenting, internet, I can help you whenever I can with this…
2- Find a unique style, something that makes your photographs different than the billions of pics out there.
3- Decide whether you want to do Fine Art, Commercial, Editorial or Advertising photography.
4- Look for who your potential clients are (Galleries, Ad Agencies…) and bug the heck out of them until they pay attention to you.
